The type of zeolite used is a mixture of several heat-treated types, crushed into granules from 3-5mm and composed of various different minerals that contribute to break down, in a single use, nitrites, nitrates, ammonia, phosphates, silicates and copper which are all toxic elements for fish and may result from several factors such as overdose of food, dead leaves not removed, poor cleaning of the filter ect.
